CONCERT UNIFORM / BAND RAFFLE / COLOR GUARD / CALENDAR

CONCERT UNIFORM / ATTIRE

Our final band concerts of the school year are May 12th and 13th.  Mr. Smigell would like to have everyone wear their formal, concert uniform for these concerts.  If you have a shirt, tie, black pants and black shoes from previous years in HHS band and everything fits, you're all set!  If not, here's what you'll need:

Concert and Symphonic Bands:
- Black pants
- White, wing collar, pleated TUXEDO shirt.  There is a cost to you for the shirt (see below for ordering options).
- Black bow tie - see below for ordering options
- Black shoes - solid black please!
- Black socks

Highlander Band:
- Same items as Concert and Symphonic Bands
- Black Vest - you will be fit for this during class.  Vests are currently provided by the band program at no cost to students.

Wind Ensemble:
- Same items as Concert and Symphonic Bands
- Black tuxedo jacket - you will be fit for this during class.  Jackets are currently provided by the band at no cost to students.

  • If you need financial assistance to obtain a shirt and tie, please let Mr. Smigell (smigellj@howellschools.com) or Laura Allegoet (allegoel@howellschools.com) know.  We have a few available to loan here at the school.

SHIRT ORDER OPTION #1 (Brighton Tux Shop):
Mr. Rick Bourbonias and Brighton Tux have provided us with shirts and ties for many years.  His prices are almost unbeatable and he provides us with great service.  Due to Covid, we are unable to provide fittings for students at the school.  You will need to visit the Brighton Tux Shop to place your order and get fitted for a shirt.  Shirts and/or ties will be delivered to your student at the school once your order arrives so you only need to make one visit to Brighton Tux :)

Prices are:
White Formal Shirt - $18.50
Black Tie -$5
Combo - $23 (Shirt + Tie)
  • ORDER DEADLINE FROM BRIGHTON TUX IS MAY 1ST!
WHAT IF I ONLY NEED A TIE? OR I ORDER THE SHIRT FROM OPTION #2?
No problem!  We will have ties available for purchase in the band room for $5 each AFTER May 5th.

**If you decide to order from a different vendor than the two options we have listed here, the concert uniform shirts are white, wing collar, tuxedo shirts with 1/4 inch pleats.

SHIRT ORDERING OPTION #2 (Amazon):

BAND RAFFLE SURVEY - due April 11th!
You could win great prizes!  The Howell Band Boosters will be conducting an online raffle to help raise funds for the band program.  We will post a new raffle item each day and sell a limited number of tickets for each item starting April 18.  We are asking you to help us choose the items for the raffle by completing our very brief interest survey.

MEMORIAL DAY PARADE?????
Traditionally, HHS Marching Band / Color Guard performs in the Memorial Day Parade in downtown Howell.  However, we do not know if we will be able to participate this year due to Covid.  Our participation will depend on State guidelines closer to the parade date and Howell Schools approval.  We will not have a decision or more info about the parade until the end of April, at the earliest.  The parade has always been optional for marching band / color guard members and will continue to be. We understand very much the importance of having "one last hurrah" for our marching seniors and are taking that into consideration heavily. Stay tuned!
