HELP NEEDED! and MARCHING BAND STUFF

Hello band families!  Only 4 more school days left!  That also means that we are starting to plan details for marching band and camp 💚💛

HEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WE NEED DUDES TO CHAPERONE BAND CAMP FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING HOLY AND GOOD IN THIS WORLD.

(That last part was added by Smigell)

BAND CAMP - MALE CHAPERONES NEEDED!
We are in need of 3 or 4 men (age 21 or older) to join us for marching band camp as a chaperone.  Band camp is a lot of fun!  It gives you the chance to get a sneak-peek at our half-time show, opportunity to help behind the scenes with your student AND you get the season's marching band t-shirt (which is always an amazing shirt!).  This will be my 8th year attending band camp and it truly is an awesome experience!  Please let me know if you are interested by emailing Laura Allegoet at allegoel@howellschools.com

Click here for the chaperone packet which includes all the details:  CHAPERONE PACKET & INFO

There is currently a wait list for female chaperones.

MARCHING BAND - FINAL PAYMENT DUE NOW!
If you owe a balance for marching band / camp, that is due NOW!  Payments can be dropped off in the band room or made on-line following the instructions on page 3 of the student marching band packet:

2021-2022 Postings for band placements

 Hello Everyone!

Below are the placements for Howell Bands for the 2021-22 school year.  A few points:

1.  The students listed are all students that indicated that they are returning next year.  Students who indicated they were not coming back are not on the list.  IF AN ERROR WAS MADE EITHER WAY, please let me know.  I have everyone's score and we can easily rectify that.

2. Please do not email me, text, or call me about the results until Monday.  At that time I will happily answer all questions you may have.  For those who did not place where they wanted, PLEASE TALK TO ME FIRST before freaking out.  There are options available and we can also check to see if there was an error in scoring or in the posting.

3. Bad behavior (in the form of either gloating, complaining, or saltiness) WILL NOT BE TOLERATED, be it on social media or in person.  Please report it to me if there is an issue.

4. THESE PLACEMENTS ARE NOT "SET IN STONE" BUT ARE ABOUT 90% CERTAIN.  A few adjustments are always made.

5. Percussion ensemble still has a few openings, as does School of Rock.  Please see Mr. Smigell for details

And with that... Here they are!

BAND AWARDS CEREMONY 5/18 @ 7 PM

BAND AWARDS CEREMONY (a.k.a. Band Banquet)
Tuesday, May 18th at 7 p.m. in the Rod Bushey Auditorium
  • This is an optional event where we present awards to students that have earned their Varsity letter and other band awards.  Awards are earned using this point system:  BAND POINT AWARDS FORM  Point forms are due today, May 14th!  You can leave forms in the band room mailbox or email to: allegoel@howellschools.com
  • We will also be awarding the John Philip Sousa award to one of our Seniors!  The prestigious John Philip Sousa award goes to an outstanding HHS band Senior every year.  Students nominate candidates and then vote for ONE senior band member that they think demonstrates band awesomeness!  Sousa award winners are someone they see as:  a leader, role model, helpful, great musician and positive representative of the band program.  The Google form to vote for the Sousa award was emailed to all students and is due Monday the 17th!
Tickets are required for this event.  Please limit tickets to 4 per family (this includes your high school student who also needs a ticket.  Student + 3 Guests).
We hope you can join us to celebrate our great band students and a great year at Howell HS Bands!  We are holding the awards ceremony in the auditorium this year in order to follow guidelines for COVID capacity limits and proper social distancing.  There is no charge but, you must have a ticket and wear a mask properly to attend (mask over your nose and mouth).

If you have any issues with tickets or any questions, please email me at allegoel@howellschools.com
Hope to see you Tuesday! - Laura
